How we began

The first time I saw him was in 2016 at a teenagers' camp-out. He was leading the prayer session, and before I even knew anything about him, I was drawn to him because of his voice.

The next day, I walked up to him just to say hi, and he responded warmly. A few months later we met again at another teens' program, and as fate would have it, we took the same route home.

Later that month, at a youth fellowship, I watched him minister once more. I had just begun my walk with God — hungry to know Him more. So after the service, I asked if he would mentor me.

He didn't answer immediately. Instead, he handed me a book — Battlefield of the Mind, by Joyce Meyer. That simple act marked the beginning of a journey that would become so much more.

Fast forward to 2020. After almost a year without speaking, we met again and once more took the same route home. That evening he asked me to come over the next day — he wanted to tell me something.

When I got there, something about him was different. He looked so humbled. He began to speak, stuttering, and then, with all the courage he could gather, he said —

I couldn't process what I had heard. He told me about the woman he had always prayed for, and how I fit every one of those prayers. I could barely say a word.

The next time we met, I finally found mine. I told him I already knew — because God had spoken to me about him two years earlier. I had only been waiting for His timing.

And just like that, our love story began.
